Medtronic Subpoenaed Over Heart Devices
RTT News reports that on December 9th, medical devices maker Medtronic Inc. said that it had earlier received a subpoena from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General in California seeking production of documents on a range of issues relating to the company’s heart-rhythm devices. In a quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said that it received the subpoena on September 16.
Medtronic said the government requested documents covering areas including cardiac rhythm medical devices, including revenue, sales, marketing and promotional documents, documents relating to reimbursement communications to customers pertaining to the devices, documents relating to scientific studies and registries pertaining to the devices, and documents relating to payments or items of value provided to customers.
